Bonjour!

One of the things I’ve always wanted to do is learn French. I think it sounds like such a beautiful spoken language. My friend Breanna and I both decided to start French language lessons together, so we went to the open day at Alliance Francaise de Melbourne (AFM) on Saturday, 15th September. We made a decision to take classes here even though the course was slightly more expensive because AFM promotes French culture as much as it does teaching French language. They run events all year which include Cooking Lessons in French, French Film Nights, French Discussion Groups over Croissants & Coffee/Cheese & Wine, etc. AFM also has a library (both children and adults) of French literature and audio books. Plus the lessons are held at this lovely heritage mansion in St Kilda, Melbourne by the beach areas. We received a 10% discount too off the beginners language course because we were new students and came to the Open Day. Breanna and I even got to do a Trial French Class which was taught entirely in French. It was so much fun! I can’t wait to start our lessons on the Saturday, 13th October!

Some French-themed decor on the gates of AFM.

Lovely Breanna!

How appropriate to bring a Louis Vuitton handbag to a Trial French Class. Bonus points for Breanna!

  1. C’est tres bien! French is wonderful, and when you master it, you will also understand a little Italian, Spanish, and all the romance languages. I am thrilled that you will be learning French. We have several books you can take! Watch some movies in French with English subtitles when you start learning. JJ recommends Jean Cocteau’s “Beauty and the Beast.” (I will send it to you!)
