I actually ended up making these pop-up tea cups for Mother’s Day, but you can use the pattern for any occasion. Now that I think about it, it would have been even cooler to have a pop-up paper tea cup as a prop for my Effie Trinket look (earlier post under fashion). Anyway, the pop-up tea cup card takes approximately 45 minutes to make, and you can customise it anyway you like (as I did adding little open flaps with messages).
All you need is:
– Scissors
– Sticky Tape
– Glue Stick
– Printer
– 9 pieces of 170g/m2 A4 Photo Paper (I chose Canon’s Arts & Crafts Inkjet Paper bought at an Office Supplies Chain Store for about $10 for 50 sheets).
– The PDF Pattern which you can get HERE for free
*Note I didn’t use the good photo paper to print the stick on decorative details to save money.
I sent these hand-made pop-up tea cups to my boyfriend’s Mom (she’s American), his 2 Grandmas, my sister-in-law, and my own Mum for Mother’s Day and they were a HUGE hit! Great Show & Tell item for friends. Nothing says I love my Mum more than a pop-up tea cup apparently hahaha!

The cards were so thoughtful, and fabulously personalized. The message in the foam and cinnamon on the top of the cup was a very cute idea. And of course, I loved my four-leaf clover and the photo of you & JJ. (And as a “Mom” I like that you saved money by using the matte paper – which looked great. I think photo paper would not have held the glue as well, and would not have looked as much like a greeting card.) I have shown it to lots of people, and no one believes that it was “handmade” just for me! Thanks again.
